History of Palace Suites (if applicable)
Checking in & The Room at Palace Suites Heritage Hotel
Although my stay at Palace Suites was short (only one night) it was fantastic. I had the penthouse and it is truly a stunner. A split-level room, you walk into the spacious bedroom which houses a king size bed. Up the stairs is a modern and gorgeous bathroom with a tub, walk-in shower and large vanity. The walk in shower has not one but TWO waterfall showerheads and jets built into the wall for a truly decadent experience. There is also a nice stone bench in the spacious shower making me think this is a great honeymoon suite - if you know what I mean. ;)
Checking in was easy but I did have a bit of trouble with parking. I called the night before to enquire about their parking availability and was told they have two parking spots available for guest use at 10 euro a night. For such a nice hotel I do wish they would drop the parking charge. I was emailed directions to the parking and I easily found the parking spot as I drove into Split the next day.
The problem was when I arrived at the designated spots despite signs saying parking for Palace Suites both parking spaces were filled. I parked in a spot alongside theirs that belonged to another hotel and quickly walked over to the hotel to tell them my issue. They apologized and said sometimes locals park in their spots and called to have the cars towed. I asked if they could move my car for me and unfortunately, since it was a rental, by law they were not allowed to. Fair enough. I have high anxiety when it comes to rental cars so for the hour we were waiting for the tow company to move the cars I was worried I would be towed by the other hotel. The parking spot is about a 6-minute walk from the hotel - yes I timed it - since the old city is carefree. I ended up walking back twice to see if the cars had been towed yet before finally moving my car into the correct spot. All in all this cut about an hour and a half into my already limited time in Split. Although I don’t blame the hotel, things happen, I do wish they had a better protocol for guarding the spots when guests have booked them in advance. I also wish that after all the trouble they had refunded my 10 euro for the spot - but that could be me being cheap.
Wifi at Palace Suites Heritage Hotel
The wifi at Palace Suites worked perfectly. I easily searched the web, watched Netflix and booked last minute tours.
Breakfast & Dining at Palace Suites Heritage Hotel
The breakfast at Palace Suites was another let down, the spread is a bit sparse and doesn’t seem to be refilled often. While I was eating I took the last croissant and by the time my guest came downstairs to eat, about 20 minutes later, it still had not been refilled.
