Playa Blanca in Baru
Beautiful white sand that gets loaded with tourists. Get here as early as possible for a spot and don't come here if you want a quiet spot.
There are several ways to get here including by bus, taxi, ferry or boat.
The most beautiful area around Cartagena if you're looking for crystal clear water and white sandy beaches. The archipelago has many islands (28 total) to choose from.
Tayrona National Park
Ok, technically this isn't near Cartagena and needs a whole side trip of its own but I have to mention it. It is so beautiful!!!
Extremely close to Cartagena, so this also makes it the most crowded. Bocagrande feels like Miami set in Colombia.
La Boquilla Beach
The easiest way to get here is by taxi. The small beach is home to a fishing village and very nice. You can also hire someone to take you in the mangroves from this beach.
Punta Arena in Tierra Bomba
The white sandy beaches of Punta Arena on the eastern side of the large island of Tierra Bomba is one of the best kept secrets of Cartagena. And I'm totally OK with giving away the secret.
