Bryant Park and NY Public Library

We have finally arrived in NYC!  We got here pretty late Thursday night and spent the weekend getting our "room" (half of a living room with an air mattress to sleep on, to be exact) set up and going out at night to see friends who live in the city.  After a beautiful weekend, Monday morning was not the greatest, I awoke to grey skies and some cold winds.  Seeing as we have a small "room," I brought very limited clothing and so I had no actual warm jackets with me.  But Monday was my first real day to go out into the city so I didn't let the weather didn't deter me.  Matt started his job downtown so I will start having the daytime to myself to explore as slow as I want.

Even though the weather was bad Monday, there are still beautiful places to go inside - I decided on Grand Central Station, but on the way there I walked past the New York Public Library and something just pulled me inside.  Immediately, I felt like I was in a beautiful medieval castle with embellished ceilings and dark corridors.  The only disappointing moment of the day was the Rose Main Reading Room (the iconic New York public library room) has been closed for over 6 months because they found asbestos in the ceiling.  Just another reason to go back again!

Matt and I attended Bryant Parks movie night (on Monday nights during the summer) and it was phenomenal! The weather is perfect, the screen is huge, and people are just in such a great mood.  A couple of ladies sitting next to us had a huge bottle of wine and couldn't finish it so they gave it to us.  This is definitely something I want to do again, great experience all around.
